寒山為唐代隱于天臺(tái)寒巖的布衣禪僧,詩(shī)作以山野日常融空寂禪理,語(yǔ)言淺白蘊(yùn)深意,深刻影響中日韓東亞禪隱文學(xué)。本輯收錄十四首寒山主題山水禪詩(shī),英譯恪守信達(dá)雅、功能對(duì)等、以詩(shī)譯詩(shī)、重神似準(zhǔn)則,堅(jiān)持不增譯、留留白。譯文嚴(yán)格做到原詩(shī)一句對(duì)應(yīng)英文一行,采用 AABB/ABAB 尾韻,以整齊詩(shī)行還原漢詩(shī)一句一意的節(jié)奏,用簡(jiǎn)約雋永英文意象傳遞寒山詩(shī)超脫塵俗、清凈空靈的禪境。

Ilong to dwell on Cold Mountain side,
Wheresilence reigns and cares subside.
Cloudsrise to veil the peaks in fold,
Windscalm, tall pines stand firm and bold.
Wilddeer lie on the grassy ground,
Apeshowl to heaven with a sound.
Nomundane things here e'er appear,

2. 寒山一片雪
寒山一片雪,萬(wàn)里絕塵埃。
石徑無(wú)人跡,柴門(mén)盡不開(kāi)。
孤松凌冷霧,寒月照蒼苔。
獨(dú)坐心無(wú)事,悠悠絕掛懷。

Inever chase the world's glory or its blaze.

不戀人間祿,甘守寒山阿。
