今天我們來學(xué)習(xí)三組同義替換，一個(gè)形容詞，一個(gè)副詞，以及一個(gè)短語。我所挑出來的這些詞匯不僅可以用在閱讀、翻譯、寫作中，還會(huì)在聽力中出現(xiàn)，大家要引起重視哦。

嚴(yán)格來說，它們應(yīng)該是「同近義替換」。因?yàn)楹苌贂?huì)有一個(gè)單詞與另一個(gè)單詞完全相同的情況。

pervasive 普遍的

pervasive = common

在地球 earth 前面加個(gè) d，詞義發(fā)生了天翻地覆的變化。地球多山多海多人口，但 dearth 的意思卻是 a lack of something that people want or need「缺乏」。

所以「缺乏機(jī)會(huì)」我們可以不再用 a lack of opportunities，而是改用 a dearth of opportunities。「證據(jù)不足」則是 a dearth of evidence。2022 年《經(jīng)濟(jì)學(xué)人》寫過一篇有關(guān)電動(dòng)汽車的長(zhǎng)文，其中一個(gè)句子就用到了 dearth。

The resulting dearth of capital is attracting private-equity firms (often founded by former mining executives) and manufacturers with a taste for vertical integration.

由此導(dǎo)致的資本匱乏吸引了一些私募股權(quán)公司（通常由前礦業(yè)高管創(chuàng)立）和喜歡垂直整合的制造商。

altogether 完全地

altogether = completely, totally, entirely, utterly

In short, some AI platforms may be doing with other media what Napster did with songs—ignoring copyright altogether.

altogether

掌握了這個(gè)副詞，我們就可以替代常用的 completely 或者 totally, entirely, utterly。altogether 常用來強(qiáng)調(diào)事情「完全地，徹底地」結(jié)束了。我們心痛于一些習(xí)俗被人遺忘，有些甚至徹底消失，an old custom that has vanished altogether 便是指「一個(gè)完全消失了的古老習(xí)俗」。這個(gè)副詞的使用頻率很高，考試也經(jīng)常考到，2022 年 12 月的六級(jí)閱讀中就有它的倩影。

When they become too short, the cell stops dividing altogether.

當(dāng)它們變得太短時(shí)，細(xì)胞會(huì)完全停止分裂。

另一方面，altogether 還可以表示 to emphasize that the way you describe something is completely true in every way「完全地，十分地」。所以「截然不同」我們可以寫成 altogether different。
