On Monday morning, the Qinghai Provincial Museum, which curated the exhibition, explained that the newspaper with the TCL markings was placed under the statue's base around 2000 as makeshift padding.
The statue's original base seal was damaged and the newspaper was used to prevent incense ash and herbal fillings from spilling out. When the relic was transferred to the museum, staff left the newspaper untouched to protect the artifact, and it remained there for over two decades.

Earlier, TCL, a home appliance company, denied any commercial involvement, stating that after an internal review, neither the company nor its affiliates had any partnership, advertising, or co-branding with the exhibition or the museums. The company said it never authorized any branding on the relic and will fully cooperate with authorities.
